Which numbers go in each column

Every 75-ball card follows the same layout, so a caller says the letter with the number: B 7, G 52. Players know at once which column to look in.

How a 75-ball card is laid out

Each column draws five numbers from its own range of fifteen, in any order. The N column has only four, because the centre square is the free space: it counts as marked from the first call. So a card carries 24 numbers out of the 75, and no two cards in the set are the same.

Running the game

Announce the pattern first: a line, four corners, blackout or one of the other patterns. Then call balls one by one, letter and number, and give players a moment to look. Use a cage and balls if you have them, the online caller on a screen, or the number generator if you just need a fair draw.

Checking a winner

Every card in the set has a number. When someone calls bingo, open the winner check, type the card number and mark the calls so far: it shows the card with the called squares and which lines are complete. No need to read the whole card aloud.

More cards, other ranges

Thirty cards suit a classroom or a family party. For a bigger hall, use the generator above to make up to 500, all different, on Letter or A4 with 1, 2 or 4 cards a page. For young children, a smaller range such as 1 to 20 on a 3x3 card keeps the game short; British-style tickets are on the 90-ball page.

Using it in class

Number bingo is quiet practice in reading two-digit numbers. Teachers often call the number as a sum instead, "7 plus 8" for 15, so the class works out each answer before marking it; math bingo takes that idea further with ready problem sets.

Questions

How many numbers are on a bingo card?

A 75-ball card has 24 numbers and a free space in the centre: five numbers in each of the B, I, G and O columns and four in N.

What numbers go under B-I-N-G-O?

B has 1 to 15, I has 16 to 30, N has 31 to 45, G has 46 to 60 and O has 61 to 75.

Are all the cards different?

Yes. Every card in the set is checked against the others, so no two cards are the same.

What is the free space?

The centre square of a 75-ball card. It counts as marked from the start, so any line through the middle needs only four called numbers.

Can I print more than 30 cards?

Yes. Use the generator on this page to make up to 500 different cards in one PDF, Letter or A4.

How do I know who really won?

Each card has a number. Enter it in the winner check with the numbers called, and it shows whether the card has a line or the pattern you are playing.
